Physical Exercise

Early on humans managed to spread all across the globe, and what is even more impressive is that this was originally accomplished mainly on foot! Now fast forward to today…it will probably come as no surprise that we, as a whole, are less active than at other times in our history. Advances in technology and transportation, although wonderful, have taken their toll on our physical activity.

We all recognize regular aerobic exercise and physical activity has many benefits. But you might not be familiar with what it can do for your brain. Brain imaging studies, for example, have shown that more physically fit individuals have greater gray matter density in their frontal lobes. Other studies indicate regular physical exercise is associated with better working memory, increased ability to inhibit distractions, and improved attention control.
